Composer of Mondgewächse Patricia Alessandrini talks about human movement and rich data. Listen to the audio.
– One of the things we looked at was with video transformations, mapping spacial location to zoom, because zoom gives us a very special sense of space. So mapping that – some kind of special movement – makes a lot of sense. It’s important with these interfaces that there is a sense of agency. It’s easy enough to get a lot of data and produce something that is interesting and lively. As soon as you have human movement you have a lot of rich data that you can be using in a musical way. But it is important that the performer –not exactly like with a musical instrument, musical instruments have their own particularities – but that you feel you have control.Mondgewächse Guide: Rich Data
