In the beginning of September everybody involved in Mondgewächse will meet in Gothenburg for three intensive rehearsal days. And this time we welcome Canadian multi-disciplinary artist and composer Freida Abtan to our group. She will be focusing on the visual part of Mondgewächse. Find out more about Freida on her website.
Here you can read the latest statement from composer Patricia Alessandrini. She reveals more details about the piece, the process and the development of the technical tools:
Sound synthesis, clay and video projection
Mondgewächse engages with visual perception in relation to sound in several ways. Members of the In:fluence ensemble use specially-designed interfaces and instruments to control the production and evolution of sound, or modify the sound of acoustic instruments, with their gestures. The gestures associated with the performance on these interfaces will also be linked to the creation and modification of projected lights and video projection. Live creation using materials such as clay will also be linked to sound synthesis and video projection.
