Elefantöra– the ensemble that shifts the order of the musical space. With their strong musicality and attentiveness, they disrespectfully move through the cracks of the thin walls between the analogue and the digital. Expect rich contrasts and cross-border meetings when Elefantöra challenges, stretches and breaks the box of what music can be – with a soundscape that makes you listen.
The ensemble mainly work with various digital instruments and belongs to the expanding post-digital genre that explores the musical expression through instrumentation as well as working methods and notation. The listening always controls how the musical space shifts in size and density, changing with Elefantöra’s personal sound design.

Among others, Elefantöra has participated in a residency at the Inter Arts Center in Malmö, collaborated with the string orchestra Musica Vitae in an artistic lab and performed Jesper Nordin's Retrospective III together with solo violinist Malin Broman at the Change Music Festival in Kungsbacka 2021. Conductor was Simon Crawford-Phillips. In 2022, the world premiere of the commissioned piece Beats, Sounds and Strings by composer and conductor Hans Ek was performed. It took place at Tryckeriet in Helsingborg, and on stage were Elefantöra with Gageego! and Helsingborg's Symphony Orchestra. The piece was created in collaboration with Elefantöra. More collaborations with composers are ongoing and concerts and performances are increasingly taking place. During 2023, the ensemble is collaborating with researchers from CCRMA at Stanford University (US).
In collaboration with Gageego!, Elefantöra has so far (2021) premiered seven newly written works and participated in GEIGER Sessions (2018) and the Lund Contemporary festival (2019 and 2021), among others. In 2020, members of Gageego and Elefantöra created a unique performance of Beethoven's Cello Sonata Op 5 for the digital festival Kulturfesten organised by Region Jönköping County. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the musicians created their version together online by sending material to each other. Then a performance was filmed in Gnosjö. You can watch the performance here.
Elefantöra was founded in autumn 2017 by ShareMusic & Performing Arts in the context of a development project on digitisation. Elefantöra currently consists of musicians Joel Mansour, Ewe Larsson, Sayam Chortip, Liv Dahlstrand and sound designers Louisa Danielsson and Gusten Aldenklint.
