On a dark stage, lit up by blue lighting design, the four musicians of Elefantöra sits på tables covered with black cloth. The musicans are dressed in black and focused on their instruments, iPads. Two other instruments are on the stage. Behind Ewe, to the left, there is a grand piano. To the right of Joel, who sits on the far right of the table, there is a guitar. Close to Ewe, there is also a computer screen showing green digital numbers on a black background.

Elefantöra’s live performance at Freja Funkfestival in June was filmed and is now available with English and Swedish subtitles. Discover Elefantöra’s unique world of sounds at home in your living room, on the bus – anywhere you like. For best possible experience, we recommend a pair of really good headphones or speakers so you can hear every little detail in the music.

Besides their own music, Elefantöra performed two pieces that they have created with others: ”Listening with Elephant Ears” in collaboration with Hugo Boothby and ”Elephant Ears on the Brain” in collaboration with Barbara Nerness.

”Elephant Ears on the Brain” was a brand new piece, having its world premiere only two days before the concert at Spira. Barbara Nerness is a musician and PhD at CCRMA (Centre for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics) at Stanford University. Barbara is interested in the body’s own sounds, and she has created her own instrument – "the Stethophone". It is a rebuilt stethoscope that through microphone gain can play your heartbeat. Imagine your own heart as an instrument! Barbara also researches on biodata and brainwaves. This is not talking about experiencing art as an out-of-body experience but very much physical, with our own bodies and organs as orchestra. Listen to your heart – literally.

Here you can find the whole programme for the concert, but regretfully only available in Swedish.
